Village Tech XCLASS
YEAR LONG XCLASS COURSES
Grades 1 - 9
These courses require COMMITMENT and also provide a great deal of bonding and fun!
You can only join in the beginning of the year and you are in for the long haul! If you decide to leave, there is no readmission.
These courses tend to be competitive or performance driven.
Please note that there is no guarantee for a seat in the course. If the course becomes over subscribed, then students will be waitlisted and offered a seat if it becomes available.

This Xclass will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays for the first semester. It is open for students 4th grade-8th grade.
Not all students applying are guaranteed a spot in the Xclass.
There are only 20 slots open for the class and those 20 students will be competing against each other to earn a spot on 10 member competition team named Squidbot.
Those students who do not make the Squidbot team will combine to make new alternate team.
Squidbot team will compete at a Regional Qualifying tournament in December or January.
This Xclass will not only meet during school schedule Xclass times we will also be meeting before and after school and sometimes weekends if necessary the closer to competition.
STUDENTS IN THIS COURSE MUST BE DOUBLE BLOCKED TUESDAY AND FRIDAY FOR ROBOTICS!
OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPRESS HEIGHTENED INTERESTS IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, OR MATHEMATICS. This club will seek additional opportunities to explore various sciences on and off-campus. We will be working with our community and professionals in pertaining fields to build our knowledge and positively influence our futures.
You will have the ability to compete in scientific competitions and receive scholarship opportunities through NASA based programs.
We will be competing in the Future City Competition, with an engineer as our mentor. You will design a virtual (SimCity) and model city. The winning team goes to nationals in Washington, D.C. (mostly paid for!)
Along with stay current with NASA news, we will be completing hands-on experiments, working with NASA based rocket launch simulators, and engaging in activities to increase our technical knowledge.
There will be a trip to the Fort Worth Museum / Planetarium and fundraising to visit the NASA Space Center in Galveston, TX (at the end of the year).

Orchestra - Grades 6 through 9 or be proficient in performance on an instrument. Must have a string instrument and knowledge and technique of how to produce pitches/ scales. Books will be required as soon as class makes. Information will be sent home after first class. Will need proficient piano student to accompany orchestra.
Chorus Ink is a program for students who just want to sing and dance to all genres of music! It’s all about having fun! We perform locally, state-wide, and nationally. This year, several of our Chorus Ink representatives have signed up to go abroad! They will be traveling to Greece and Italy over Spring Break to spread the VT Chorus Ink mission! More opportunities to come.
A uniform is required.
T-Shirt required costs range from $15 - $20. Black pants or skirt required.
Expectations:
There are a few weekend and after school performances.

If you are super spirited and love to root for your team, then we are looking for you. Our Squid Squad is looking for 1st-5th grade members. There is a small fee of $20 for tee shirts, pom poms, and hair ribbons.

This class is intended for student who are interested in art and the many fields that utilize art principles and techniques. Students are required to have and maintain a sketch book and a portfolio at all times . During this class students will learn various techniques and mediums in art along with professional practices . The supplies for each of the projects will be communicated to the students before we being each projects and will be given a week in advance. This is a year long course as we also participate in multiple state and national level competitions.

Students will publish a Village Tech newspaper each quarter that contains stories and photographs of what is going on around campus.
Drama 6-9, Room 15B
Student Acting Cap: 20 kids
FEE: $10 per student to cover the cost of scripts and competition
Students will learn the craft of acting and stage direction while working on a one-act play to take to competition in FEBRUARY. Students will also be needed for props, stage management, and technical theatre jobs (such as costumes and makeup).
EQUIPMENT: students will need to have their own makeup for performance and help coming up with costumes.
Prop/Set Design/Make Up

Students will assist with One Act Play by designing and creating props, sets, and costumes.
Speech & Debate: 9th Grade Debate only one-on-one debate; also known as values debate because the format traditionally places a heavy emphasis on logic, ethics, and philosophy. 6-8 Speech Students will practice and develop speeches to deliver in oratory contests. $50.00 Activity Fee
